Overview
The goal of micro degree “Leading change in the conditions of war” is to increase learners’ knowledge about change management and demonstrate how to implement changes in the conditions of war while keeping in mind pursuits related to digitalization and sustainability. This micro degree of 15 ECTS develops further the 2023 change management course, which enhanced new knowledge and skills as well as implementation of concrete projects in practice.
Practical skill sets will be developed through independent studies, teamwork challenges and specific case studies about change management in different organizations in Ukrainian context. 20 full scholarships are available for master’s level students from Ukraine. 10 scholarships are meant for hybrid learning online and at EBS campuses in Tallinn and Helsinki. 10 scholarships are meant for online learning.
The degree will give a systemic and focused overview of main theories of change management and practical choices stemming from the concepts. Through projects and teamwork change management challenges will be placed in the specific context of learners’ home countries and specific needs of organizations where they work or aspire to work.
The micro degree will assist learners in developing a specific hands-on approach for handling concrete organizational challenges stemming from extraordinary circumstances. It will do so by demonstrating how to implement changes for development of concrete organizational and business models in the areas of digitalization and sustainability. As special themes learners will focus on change management during the military conflict as well as managing change in both public and private sector organizations in the context of potential EU membership.
The course will start with an independent work where each learner will prepare analysis of external environment as well as self-assessment of changes needed in their respective organizations. These steps allow participants to develop a specific project which will be in their focus throughout the micro degree. Study sessions will be split into three components. First, virtual seminars with all learners about change management. Second, in-person specialized workshops where learners engage in team project with help of expert advice. Third, the study session in Tallinn will be followed by virtual seminars where learners give overview of implementation of change management in their home countries.

Three aims of micro degree:
The first aim is to increase conceptual knowledge of change management – particularly in the context of radical changes in external environment. The second aim is to develop skills for managing change with focus on digitalized and sustainable organizational transformation. The third aim is to assist course participants in developing a specific change management project which will be implemented in their respective organizations. Target groups Primary target group: Decision-makers in both private and public sector organizations in Ukraine. Learning outcomes:
- Deeper understanding of multifaceted nature of change management.
- Ability to differentiate priorities in change management in diverse external environments.
- Capability to understand on specific change management challenges in digital and sustainable organizational transformation.
- Develop skills for managing organizational change in complex environment.
- Increasing capacity for developing and implementing change management in organizations. Learning environment: Lectures, project management and interactive workshops with participants. Learning methods: Independent study, lectures, teamwork, brainstorming, coaching. How to apply:
The program is meant for candidates with bachelor degree. This implies that it is master’s level programme. Candidates with the minimum of three years of work experience are preferred.
